Freya Shipley, Children’s Writer & Work-For-Hire Author

Work-For-Hire Projects

I’m a work-for-hire author with a special love for historical/biographical topics. If you’re looking for a dedicated freelancer to join your team, let’s chat!

My academic training has given me a profound commitment to precision and integrity in my research (and in meeting deadlines).  There’s nothing better than diving deeply into a topic, then choosing the most succulent bits of information to share with readers. I’m most interested in writing for grades 8 - 12, but I’m definitely open to connecting with younger readers as well.

I’m a mental magpie who’s interested in a wide range of subjects. (Here are just a few: language and linguistics, animal biology, Shakespeare, ghost stories and folklore, Sherlock Holmes, and neuroscience.) I’m skilled at analyzing and matching other writers’ styles. I’m an AMI-certified Montessori teacher at the elementary school level. I hold a graduate degree in history from St. Andrews University in Scotland, and I’m an alumna of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

If you’d like to chat about possible assignments, please drop me a line. I’ll be happy to hear from you!
